US Senator John McCain Diagnosed With Aggressive Form of Brain Cancer

US senior Senator from Arizona, a war veteran, writer, Republican Presidential Candidate and law maker John McCain is diagnosed with brain cancer along with a blood clot right above his left eye on July 20th. Cancer has been successfully removed.

According to various sources, it was revealed, that the tumor that caused the cancer is called primary glioblastoma, an aggressive Tumor that is formed on tissues of the brains and Spinal Cord. For the procedure, the bone right underneath his eyebrow had to be removed and inserted back into its exact place.

The American Brain Tumor Association states that only 10% of glioblastoma cancer patients survive. Similarly, another US senator, Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with same cancer but did not survive it.

The CNN reported the surgery lasted for 3-4 hours and the scan reports post the surgery shows that the tissue that caused cancer to develop has been successfully removed along with the blood clot.

McCains’ office released an official statement that said the Senator is doing amazingly –well, in fact, he was praised by the doctors for his sharp memory and witty humor right after his surgery.

Prior to the surgery, McCain had not suffered from any kind of neurological problems. Previously, McCain was diagnosed with Skin Cancer, due to which he went for routine physical checkups during which the cancer was discovered.

McCain did mention about certain symptoms of particular cancer which he failed to recognize prior to the check-up and blamed his tight schedule for the fatigue and intermittent double vision.

Since the announcement of the diagnoses, there has been an outpour of wishes on Twitter including that of Trump and Obama’s.

“Senator John McCain has always been a fighter, Melania and me send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family. Get well soon.”- Donald Trump

Vice President Mike Pence tweeted “Cancer picked on the wrong guy, McCain is a fighter & he’ll win this fight too. God bless!”

Former President Barack Obama and McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign opponent also showed his support in through a tweet,”Cancer doesn’t know what it’s up against. Give it hell, John.”

Bill Clinton also took to Twitter to show his support “As he’s shown his entire life, don’t bet against John McCain. Best wishes to him for a swift recovery.”

George H.W. Bush supported him in a statement “The Hanoi Hilton couldn’t break John McCain’s spirit many years ago, so Barbara and I know — with confidence — he and his family will meet this latest battle in his singular life of service with courage and determination,”

McCain is a decorated War veteran who was captured and tortured by the Philippines as a war criminal. Since then he has come a long way as a Senator of Arizona.
